    yes, to do it properly you need to modify the valves, and run with the spark plug removed.

    No you shouldn’t.The fuel injection system is still squirting gas into the dead cylinder.That gas is running down the cylinder wall and thinning out your oil which will ruin the engine (gasoline makes a lousy lubricant).Will also damage catalytic converter.Fix the broken cylinder or park it untill you can.
